Murmali – luxurious and vegan handbags
Murmali is a London brand for vegan and sustainable handbags. Behind the bags is real handwork and know-how, the cork is grown and processed in Portugal where the durable bags are made from it.
The entire production takes place in a small village in the south of Portugal, near the cork oak forests from which the cork for the bags comes. Murmali specialises in cork, but why exactly this material? Cork is a renewable raw material that is vegan, sustainable and ecological. Cork is the bark of the cork tree. It has to be at least 25 years old to be "harvested" for the first time.
After that, the tree is harvested every 9 years. The bark is removed from the tree by hand, nothing happens to the tree, it is neither injured nor damaged. As the cork fabric is made from the raw bark of the cork oak, the natural patterns are preserved, making each handbag different from the next.
